East Bayshore to Seaport, Redwood City - Sept. 19, 2009

Walking Distance: 2.35 miles (loop)
Walking Time: 44 minutes (6:08 - 6:52 p.m.)
Start & End Point: Legal parking spot along East Bayshore Road, Redwood City, CA

As mentioned yesterday, the gray dotted line on the map shown indicates a possible trail in the future. However, walking down frontage road, East Bayshore Road, was as close as I could get to that dotted line. Today, I passed a few trailer parks, storage places, and some other businesses. I couldn't see the Bay from East Bayshore, but I walked over some important infrastructure: telephone lines, storm drains, street lighting systems, water systems, and who knows what other conduits of activity under or near the road. I even saw a pay phone - something quite rare now. While this was interesting, I was very happy to round the corner onto Seaport, and to see the Bay and some birds again, in addition to a developed walking trail.

Wildlife Sightings: Nothing on East Bayshore, but once I started walking down Seaport, I saw 23 black-necked stilts, 1 egret, 2 killdeer. (I heard 1 crow, 1 red-winged blackbird, and one hummingbird, but did not actually see them.)
